Office of Attorney General - Public Protection Internship

Section Name:  Bureau of Consumer Protection – Public Protection Division

Section Description:  The Bureau of Consumer Protection mediates and investigates consumer complaints. It takes legal action against companies that engage in unfair or deceptive business practices in cases where a lawsuit by the Attorney General serves the public interest and benefits the citizens of the Commonwealth.

Hours per week:  12+

Intern Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Review and summarize consumer complaints;
  • Review relevant documents and identify violations;
  • Perform research into prior legal actions or violations by businesses using web sites, DOS,

CLEAR, etc.;

  • Create and maintain spreadsheets and compile data for investigative reports;
  • Communicate with consumers and businesses;
  • Accompany agents on outreach events;
  • Attend hearings and court dates.

Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled and in good standing with an accredited college or university;
  • Strong research and writing skills;
