Biography:

Julia Dillavou is a graduate student in the Department of Criminology at Penn State University. Her research interests include the experience of incarceration and reentry as well as correctional policy.

Julia received her B.A. in Sociology from the University of Vermont.  During her undergraduate studies, Julia assisted in survey data collection and analysis for the Vermont Department of Corrections, interviewing individuals incarcerated in Vermont Prisons in 2014. She also conducted semi-structured interviews of actors in and around the criminal justice system with connections to incarcerated parents and their children. Prior to her arrival at Penn State, Julia served as an AmeriCorps VISTA member with The DREAM Program and later worked for the State of Vermont, Department of Vermont Health Access. She also spent several years implementing recreational programming in the Chittenden County Regional Correctional Facility.
